The LivingWell Rush-Copley Breast Cancer Support Group
LivingWell is pleased to announce a joint partnership with the Illinois Breast Cancer Network of Strength in providing a monthly breast cancer support group at Rush-Copley Medical Center for individuals affected by breast cancer. Meets the third Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm . Group meets at the Rush-Copley Heart Institute, 2088 Ogden Ave, 2nd floor, Aurora, IL. DROP IN! No pre-registration required.

LivingWell Yoga
Yoga helps to increase flexibility, reduce anxiety and stress, support the immune system and enhance overall well-being. Poses are modified to adapt to all levels of experience, flexibility and limitations and are open to all! Cancer & The Law: Understanding Health Care Reform
Monica Fawzy-Bryant, staff attorney at the Cancer Legal Resource Center, will discuss the changes to our healthcare system contained in the latest national healthcare reform efforts. Learn about new health insurance options for those with pre-existing conditions, new protections related to rescissions, annual limits, and lifetime caps on coverage, and access to clinical trials. Tis seminar will also cover new requirements for preventative care coverage and new Medicare benefits. The Emotional Impact of Cancer
A cancer diagnosis can trigger a variety of emotional responses for the patient, their family, and friends. General Cancer Support Group
This general cancer support group is facilitated by LivingWell program coordinator and licensed professional counselor, Missy Petty, M.Ed., LPC, and it is open to those with any type of cancer. A caregiver’s group meets at the same time. Meets every third Wednesday of the month from 7:00-9:00pm. Pre-registration is required. Group meets at Edward Naperville Cancer Center, 120 Spalding Drive, Naperville, IL.
Choose Your Plate: Ways To Beat Cancer With Your Fork
Making the best food choices you can after cancer is important. This presentation will help participants to learn how to balance the foods they choose to promote health. Discover ways to incorporate more cancer-fighting foods while limiting others that may not be as healthy. Plant-based choices, healthier fats, meal planning and the question about sugar and cancer will be addressed. Meets Saturday, October 22 from 10-11am at DuPage Medical Group, 1020 E. When You’re Down… Yoga to Lift Your Mood
As we face the coming winter months, many people experience a shift in mood; lacking energy or just feeling down as the days get shorter. Join Jennifer Botka as she teaches you simple yoga poses, breathing techniques and meditation practices designed to increase your energy and elevate your mood physically and emotionally. This 3-hour workshop includes some lecture and is appropriate for all levels of yoga from beginner to advanced. Caregiver’s Support Group
This monthly support group embraces the importance of those dedicated to caring for loved ones living with cancer. Pre-registration is required. Meets every 3rd Monday of the month from 6:30-8:00pm . Reflection of Expression for Adults
Art can be a healing and life enhancing activity, especially during the challenging times of a cancer diagnosis. Relax and let your imagination guide you in expressing your creativity through various art media. No previous art experience or skills required. Open to patients and caregivers. Massage, Reiki, & Healing Touch
Massage, Reiki, and Healing Touch appointments are available for those living with cancer. A physician’s release and a health history form are required to be on file at LivingWell prior to your appointment. *Yoga for Balancing the Chakras Certified Yoga Instructor Amy Merrit will teach this series that highlight sand balances the chakras, which are the seven major energy centers of the physical/emotional body. Special program will take place during LivingWell Yoga on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7pm at the CDH Cancer Center throughout the month of October.
Participants do not have to commit to attend all classes, but are encouraged to do so for the greatest benefit. The chakra series will take place during all of the regular Monday and Wednesday class times from 6-7 pm throughout October. Registration, a medical release form and a health history form are required prior to attendance.
LivingWell Fitness
This upbeat class rotates through a variety of fitness routines including cardiovascular routines, light weight training, fitness balls, bands, and more. Movements can be modified to all levels fo fitness. Open to men & women. Please dress comfortably and wear gym shoes.
