Counseling Services

Individual/Family/Parent Consultations: LivingWell offers consultations with a memeber of the clincial staff for indiviuals, parents, and families interested in learning about what specific programs would benefit them and/or how to talk to children/teens about a cancer diagnosis. Club Courageous

Club Courageous is a weekly support group for children ages 6-12 who have been impacted by cancer. Participants will be involved in a ten-week group and participate in a variety of educational, art & and support based activities to help process their cancer experience. Week ten will culminate with each child’s “graduation” from the club by taking part in a celebration of their courage. Parents will be invited to attend the final session. Parent Talk

Parent Talk is a support group for parents who have a child with a cancer diagnosis. This group will focus on networking with other parents going through a similar situation, identifying resources that can be helpful to those who have a child with cancer, and providing education on the various issues that come up when a child is diagnosed with cancer. Parents are welcome to bring their children; a fun activity will be available for them while the parents meet in the library. Time Out

Time Out is designed to give kids a break from the cancer experience. This group will provide recreational activities that vary from meeting to meeting and is open to pediatric cancer survivors as well as children who have a cancer diagnosis in the family. Teen Support Group

Our Teen Support Group is a support group for teens ages 13-17 that have been impacted by cancer. Participants will create pieces of art that help to tell their story and facilitate the discussion of feelings, emotions, and events surrounding their journey with cancer. Call Jill Hoffmann, LPC, for meeting dates/times. 630-262-1111.

Grief Support for Children & Teens

ME, Too: Children's Grief Support

ME, Too is a grief support group for children ages 6-12 who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, relative or friend from cancer. Participants will be involved in an eight-week group that will run simultaneously with the adult grief group, Good Grief. Pre-registration is required before January 20. Group is open to new members during the first two weeks of the quarter. Meets Thursdays from 5:30-7:00pm. Contact Jill Hoffmann, LPC, for more information. 630-262-1111.

Teen Grief Group

Our new Teen Grief group focuses on helping teens, ages 13-18, process the emotions involved with losing a loved one.
