LivingWell Bridge Walk Goes to France!

If the background of the picture of Cynthia Albright in her Bridge Walk t-shirt looks more like France than Geneva to you, then you are correct! Cynthia, a long-time LivingWell supporter, was not only one of the top individual Bridge Walk fundraisers this year, but also distinguished herself by being the walker who celebrated the spirit of the walk from the furthest distance away.
"Since I knew that I would be in France on the day of the Bridge Walk, I decided to take the t-shirt along and have a couple photos taken while we were touring various sights around Croissy-sur-Seine, the sister city of Geneva. To my surprise, one of our stops was in a neighboring village at Chateau du Pont which means Chateau of the Bridge. It was a golden opportunity I could not miss!" Cynthia said.
Cynthia said she first learned about LivingWell four years ago when friends of hers were diagnosed with cancer and she would drive them to classes or massage therapies there. "I was amazed at all the programs offered to support people in our community living with cancer," Cynthia said. "The first year, because my friends had benefitted so much from LivingWell, I decided to join the Bridge Walk and had a few friends join me in the walk. The next year, I set a higher goal. Each time I managed to exceed that goal through the generous support of friends, neighbors and clients."
This year, for her fourth Bridge Walk, Cynthia knew that she would be visiting Croissy-sur-Seine, so she set lower goals for herself in terms of collecting money and assembling a team. However, she says she "surprised herself" by going over her goal and being recognized as one of the top individual walkers, collecting over $1,700 in donations for LivingWell.
For the past three years, Cynthia has served as a Board member on the International Culture Exchange Committee in Geneva, working to organize cultural exchanges between Geneva and Croissy-sur-Seine, a suburb of Paris. This year, they were asked to invite local artists to participate in an outdoor painting competition as part of local festival which celebrates the time of the Impressionists who often painted in that region.
Cynthia has lived in Geneva for 35 years and works as a travel agent, specializing in international travel and cooking school tours. The "Walking with Attitude" name of Cynthia’s Bridge Walk team came from a part of her business named "Cooking with Attitude!" She is married to Carl Albright, a theoretical physicist at Fermilab.
"As I had told several people at LivingWell, it would be wonderful indeed if there would be a day when no community needed a Cancer Resource Center," Cynthia said, "but in the meantime, LivingWell is a valued and tremendous asset for this community."
