LivingWell Announces Kickathon Cruise

The LivingWell Cancer Resource Center is announcing a special event that combines their philanthropic partnership with the Kick-a-thon with the opportunity to take a 7-day Caribbean Cruise over spring break. Nancy Scorby, owner of the St. Charles-based Scorby Travel and Cruise agency, came up with the idea to create a cruise event to benefit the Kick-a-thon fundraising, and will be donating all of her commissions from the cruise to the Kick-a-thon fund for LivingWell and the American Cancer Society.

“Over the course of my career in travel I have put together numerous group vacation trips all over the world.  My thoughts were that since so many families in the area like to get away at spring break, so why not offer a vacation for those families, and at the same time be able to give more to the Kickathon?  It’s a win-win for everyone,” Nancy said.

Nancy explained that the objectives are three-fold:  to generate additional fundraising monies for Kickathon, to create even more “community” between St. Charles Drill Teams, Living Well, Delnor and ACS and finally, to offer all of those involved, a beautiful, upscale cruise at a special discounted price.

The cruise is on Holland America’s newest ship; the MS Eurodam – sailing round-trip from Ft. Lauderdale on March 27th, for one week, with stops in St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay.

“It’s a very casually elegant ship that everyone would enjoy,” Nancy said.  “I’ve sailed on Holland America six times with groups.  “They do a wonderful job of catering to multi-generational groups, so if families are undecided as to what to do for spring break, what a wonderful way to enjoy the week and know that you are also contributing to such a worthy cause.”

Nancy has served on Drill Team Booster Board and has a daughter who had been on the drill team for three years.  She encourages anyone interested to book early as she expects cabins to fill up fast.  “The more people that participate, the greater the amount that can be raised for LivingWell and ACS,” Nancy added.  For more information, contact Nancy Scorby at 630-513-6910 or at .
